Mohatu slows down a little, "Pretty far... We have to cross all Utatu lands to the South." Mohatu moves off into the southwestern horizon. ... [ UTATU -RIVER WATERFALL- ]________________________________________________________________ You are currently situated along the northern bank of the central Utatu River. The river runs from west to east, while to the north is the Utatu Savannah. As remarkable as those sights are, they are not what captivates your attention, for towering from the southern bank is the enormous Utatu Mountain range. And of particular note is the towering wall of water which is flowing out of the mouth of a canyon some several hundred feet above your head. This immense waterfall is gushing from the the mountain, the final leg of the canyon river's journey. The air is wet here as the falling tons of water throws great clouds of spray into the air, while the roaring sound of crashing water drowns out nearly all noise. Jumoja catches up and smiles. "Okay, I'll be more serious and try to keep up better ;)" Mohatu chuckles ;-) "you told me I'm old... And you can't catch up? Shame on you kid!" [ UTATU -NGUVU MOUNTAIN SIDE- ]________________________________________________________________ Sloping up from the savannah and forests below, the Nguvu moutain rises from the earth in defiance of gravity. The face you are on, unlike most of the others in this mountain chain, is a gently rising one which reaches all the way to the peak of the Nguvu mountain. The face slopes upwards to the south while to the north lie the Utatu Savannahs, lakes, and deserts. The trail you are standing on winds it's way up to the peak, only pausing halfway up where a moutain pass seems to cut deeper into the chain, circling the Nguvu peak. All about you, small trees, shrubs and loose rocks and stones litter the ground, becomimg fewer and far between as you travel up the slope. Jumoja giggles. "Sorry about the old jokes. :)" Mohatu laughs [ UTATU -STONE SPIRE- ]________________________________________________________________ Approaching this area your eyes are greeted with a very bizarre sight. Rising out of the ground is an enormous stone spire. Thin enough to make one's way around it in under fifteen minutes, this thin structure seems to defy natural laws as it towers way up above you and seemingly into the clouds overhead. It's smooth and nearly vertical sides make climbing the giant needle impossible. This strange stone monolith, though it could be called a peak, is simply refered to as The Spire. An opening is visible in the rocky ground. Jumoja eyes the spire as we pass by... "Strange things around here.." Mohatu growls deeply, "Yeah.." Mohatu growls deeply, "Weird place." [ UTATU -VALLEY GRASSLANDS- ]________________________________________________________________ Covering the entire southern area of the Utatu Mountain Valley is the vast grasslands you are now standing in. Stretching from valley wall to valley forest, this enormous grassland is extremely lush and fertile, covered with a thick layer of bright green grass. Scattered throughout the plains, herds of nearly every variety, from zebras to buffalo, roam around grazing peacefully. Providing some limited shade are numerous acacia and baobab trees, growing from the fertile topsoil which is very abundant in this valley. To the east the grassland are bordered by the valley forest and the Karama mountain, while to the west the Nguvu mountain rises upwards. The valley seems to continue to the south, but boulders seem to block off the narrow passageway leading out. Mohatu smiles, "We're almost there... Just this gloomy pass and.." _Utatu Valley Pass______________________________________________07:13:46 PM_ You find yourself in a short gorge, 'hacked' through the chain of hills that divides two valleys: Kopje Valley and Utatu Valley. Almost no sound can be heard here except occasional howling of the wind. It seems very dark around even in the middle of the day due to almost black stone that forms the sheer walls of the canyon. Also, the passage curves a little, thus hiding both entrances from you as you move towards the middle of the gorge. Looking up, you see the walls almost meet above, leaving just a narrow slit in which you can see the narrow strip of the sky. The floor is covered by stones of all shapes and sizes - from small ones (some with quite sharp edges), to occasional boulders, big enough to almost block the pass, so you need to squeeze between them and gorge walls in order to proceed. Mohatu enters, with Jumoja walking along next to him. Jumoja ohs softly and looks around.. _Edge of the Kopje Valley_______________________________________07:14:40 PM_ You have reached the edge of the Kopje Valley where. The ground slopes gently down into the fertile valley. The lush green grass about you is a welcome sight that makes you want to rest there. One large Acacia tree stands not too far away from you. A smile crosses your face as you gaze upon the beauty of the distant valley. A disarming calm comes over you and a feeling of peace fills your body. Jumoja catches up.. "Whoa, slow down, I don't wanna get lost here. :)" Mohatu smiles, "Okay" Jumoja looks foward. "ooh.. is that it?" Mohatu sits and nods, "Yes.." Jumoja looks up and forward. "So where do we go next?" He's starting to seem more excited. Mohatu outstretches his paw forward, "Right there. ;-)" _Kopje valley___________________________________________________07:19:02 PM_ You come down from the edge of the Valley into a large open plain. Small bobab trees dot the landscape. You can see the cliff edge looming above you, sending a shadow over your body. To t to the north you can see a large cliff with a waterfall flowing from it. To the west you see some beautiful plains, and there is a large and expansive savannah to the south. Mohatu grins, "This is it." Jumoja looks around, his mouth open in a broad smile. "Wow... it's so cool! :)" Jumoja smiles up at you. "Where was your cave?" Mohatu laughs lightly, "thanks.." Mohatu points at the waterfall cliff, "Up there." Jumoja looks up there and starts walk in the direction. "Well, let's go look! :)" Mohatu raises, "Sure..." _Bottom of the Waterfall Cliff__________________________________07:22:31 PM_ You come to the bottom of a large cliff. Just above you is a massive promotory jutting out of the side, it sends a shadow across the waterfall. A large torrent of water comes down, creating a large 'lake' at the bottom of the cliff. Many sweet grasses grow on the edge perfect for grazing animals. As you look up the clifface, you see a small path leading to the promotory and then stretches furthur along the cliff. _Central Cave___________________________________________________07:24:09 PM_ You blink to re-adjust your eyes in the dim light. You see you are in a massive cave. Little peices of Mica are in the walls, reflecting a dim light around the cavern. The cave seems to have enough room for the pride lions to rest, or for the cubs to play around in. There are also large rocks to rest on. The sound of the waterfall and of the birds outside seem to have a calming effect to this cave as the echo around the walls. As you look around you see many dark tunnels leading to other parts of the cave. Jumoja oohs and looks down at the water, and forward over the plain. "Oh, this is awesome!" Mohatu laughs, "don't tell me it's better than Utatu." Jumoja catches up again, grinning. "Now I'm even slower. :)" Jumoja raises an eyebrow and grins at you. "It's more than fair competition, I'd say." Mohatu nuzzles, "thanks." Mohatu's Cave You see a small cave with just enough space to fit 5-6 animals. There is one large rock with a grass/moss bed on it where Mohatu and Kadjana sleep. Most of the the floor is dirt covered, providing a comfortable place to lay. A gourd of water rests in the corner if Mohatu, Kadjana or thier guests get thirsty. Jumoja scents the air lightly, and smiles. "It feels nice to be somewhere you and Mom spent time in.. even if the scents are faded." Mohatu lays on the bed Mohatu paws the ground... sighs Mohatu growls deeply, "It was a happy time" Jumoja pads over and nuzzles softly. "Happy times shouldn't make you sad.." Mohatu purrs, "not happy times make one sad, but the fact that those had passed." Jumoja nods and sits before you. "I guess I'm kind of overwhelmed by thinking of the future." Mohatu grins, "Well, YOUR happy times are all ahead, I hope." Jumoja smiles. "Well.. maybe you could be part of them? Mom had an idea that you and her might move here some day.. help me get started, maybe?" Mohatu smiles, "I'd love to be helpful... if I can." Jumoja nuzzles. "Well... I don't know a lot about kingdoms... just from watching Mtunga, and he's busy so much I don't see a lot. I could use a lot of help." He grins. Mohatu ruffles Jumoja's mane, "Sure kid... So do you plan anything exactly right now?" Jumoja hmms.. and grins. "Maybe looking out from the promontory some more :)" Mohatu chuckles, "well, good idea for a start." _Cliff Promontory_______________________________________________07:36:07 PM_ You climb up the small path on the side of the cliff and walk out to the edge of the promontory. Beneath you is a spectacular view of the waterfall. This seems to be the perfect place to relax, or to sit and think about life. The promontory juts out at an angle so that it can catch the suns rays, and can also stay cool during the hotter days of the year. Sound carries quite well from here, making it easy to talk to those below at the waterfall. This way animals can express their views, or make announcments to the audience below. Jumoja pads right to the edge and looks out as far as he can see. Mohatu pads to Jumoja's side and reclines on the stone Jumoja is smiling widely as he looks over to you. "There's a lot I will have to explore.." Mohatu smiles, "not too much... this place is much smaller than Utatu." Jumoja grins and turns to nuzzle into your mane. "I think it's awesome :)" Mohatu grins and purrs, "thanks to my Dad.." Jumoja ohs and smiles more softly. "He settled here first?" Mohatu growls deeply, "Yes... Just after my birth." Jumoja wows softly, smiling. "What was your dad's name?" Mohatu growls deeply, "Kwasi" Jumoja repeats it softly.. Jumoja looks down a bit.. "I don't know very much about my past... my other parents didn't talk much.. so I like to know what I can.." Mohatu smiles and sighs, "I didn't have a chance to know Dad well either." Jumoja noses. "I'm glad that I get to know my Dad, then.. you're so good to me." Mohatu hugs, "Thanks..." Mohatu smiles, "at least my Mom still lives and well." Jumoja grins. "Really? Who is she?" Mohatu growls deeply, "Nalia." Mohatu grins, "and she still lives here." Jumoja ohs! "Really? Cool... so she's here somewhere now?" Mohatu nods, "Here... Asleep though." You say, "So she'd be my Grandmother? :)" Mohatu chuckles, "Yup." Jumoja hmms.. "Hope she doesn't mind me poking around. :)" Mohatu laughs, "she'll LOVE to meet you. She loves kids." Jumoja self-consciously pads down the tuft of fur which is the beginning of his mane, and grins sheepishly. "Guess I am still a kid. :)" Mohatu growls deeply, "Well, for me and my Mom - definitely yes." Jumoja giggles and pokes with his paw. "I thought you wanted to move away from the old lion image? :)" Mohatu smiles, "I don't see any contradiction here.." Jumoja giggles. "Well, I promised to bite my tongue on those jokes." ;) Mohatu huhs? ;-) Jumoja grins. "Boy, now your memory is going.. ;)" Mohatu noses, "Hey! Is it an insult?" Jumoja grins and noses back. "I only make fun of you cause I love you, Dad. :)" Mohatu smiles and paws Jumoja, "I know. ;-)" Jumoja purrs softly and lays himself down. "I think I'll stay here tonight.. it so nice and quiet." Mohatu smiles, "Too lazy to come back?" Jumoja giggles and paws in your general direction. "No, really... it's nice here." Mohatu paws back, "It is... Just a bit lonely." Jumoja noses and smiles. "Well.. I find even in the pride at Utatu I get lonely sometimes." Mohatu nods and sighs You say, "I'm just kinda excited about this whole area" Mohatu grins, "I'm glad you like the place." Jumoja grins back and nuzzles. "Thanks for bringing me :)" Mohatu nuzzles back, "Well, I promised you." Mohatu looks up into the skies Jumoja looks up, too, smiling. Mohatu rolls onto his back Jumoja giggles and watches. "Getting comfy? :)" Mohatu smiles, "good to visit old home.." Jumoja grins and stretches out a bit. "I think I'll like it here. I just need to come up with some plans." He pauses... "Tommorrow. :)" Mohatu laughs and tickles Jumoja's side with a tail, "Let the plans to dawn at you in your sleep." Jumoja grins and giggles at the tickle. "Yeah! That's it. :)" He looks over the plain again, panning slowly. "It's hard to believe everyone wanted to leave.." Mohatu grins sadly, "Mtunga's invitation was too attractive." Jumoja nods slowly.. "I can't promise to do better than Mtunga.. I don't know how.. but I can promise to try as hard." Mohatu smiles, "Nobody will demand more from you." Jumoja noses and stretches. "Rr.. I think it's time to nap some more." He grins. Mohatu lays close to his son, "then have a nap. ;-)" Jumoja rumbles softly and smiles, laying his head on his paws. "G'nite, Dad. Thanks :)" Mohatu purrs, "Nite son.."
